Humankind is slowly destroying this planet. We have used almost all resources we have put our hands on and we are doing nothing to help our nature. Apart from the speeding up the global warming, we are doing harm to nature and animals that live in it. We are polluting our waters, land, and atmosphere with garbage and poisonous chemicals.
Here are 12 images that will show you how devastating can our acts be. You can’t blame the entire population of Earth for that. Some of us are really careful. We are not throwing garbage everywhere. But we are making that garbage by buying our groceries in plastic bags and throwing everything in those same plastic bags; We are using our cars every single day; We are heating our homes with fossil fuels; We are throwing nets into seas, and we are cutting our forests to make paper.
What Happens With All Those Nets
Pollution on land is dangerous for our air. However, some of our ecosystems don’t need to be on land and we don’t need new technologies to do some harm to our world. We can do that in a traditional way – by cutting off huge nets from our boats just because they become too heavy. Those nets travel, they don’t disintegrate. That is how a whale can get tangled into some of those nets, and that can kill it. These divers are trying to cut that whale free.
Pollution in China
Chinese people are an extremely disciplined people with highly developed culture. However, there are some regions in China that are suffering from the industrialization and pollution. On the photo, you can see a terribly filthy canal with garbage all around. It almost looks like a sewer.
The Crimes of Humans
We, humans, don’t think about the consequences of our actions. For example, this seal got tangled in some wire that someone threw into the sea without some intention to hurt anyone. This helpless animal has wires twisted so tightly around its neck that it cuts into its flesh.
Yamuna River – The Extreme Pollution
India is slowly becoming an overpopulated area. However, the infrastructure is not following the exponential growth of its population. That is why sewage systems don’t have any philters and pollution is so toxic that it’s destroying the entire aquatic life in the Yamuna River.
Even after all the photos and videos that have been circulating around the Internet, some people are claiming that there is no global warming. The most dangerous thing is that some of those people are pretty influential and it seems like they are trying to undermine all the efforts that humanity is trying to make against the Global Warming. People are talking about it, but nothing has been done to really reduce the levels of pollution. Everything finds its way to the paper and stays there.
Yellow River in Mongolia
This river in Mongolia is so polluted that people can’t even breathe near it.
San Joaquin Valley Oilfields
The number of oilfields here is mind-blowing! Can you imagine how many vehicles and factories are going to use that oil? Can you imagine how much of it is going to end up polluting some river and air we all breathe?
In Situ Burning
This is the only way to stop oil from spreading over the bigger area. However, can you imagine what happens to the aquatic life beneath that burning oil spill and the birds that get caught in the flames or the smoke? What is that oil spill even doing on the surface of ocean!?
Polluted Brick Kilns, Bangladesh
This looks like a scene taken straight from the “Mad Max” movie. Brick Kilns is the region in Bangladesh where people work on producing bricks. However, the entire area behind those “factories” is covered in garbage. Dhaka alone, produces over 3500 tons of garbage daily.
The image below shows the province of Alberta in Canada. This area was once covered in forests and green fields. It now looks like the mountains of Mordor! That is what happens when we try to exploit the resources of this beautiful planet.
There was a research made a couple of years ago that showed the area near the shores of South America where all the garbage from the Pacific goes. It is said that there is enough garbage that a huge island started forming from that garbage. That is how much we actually care about our waters. The plastic that we throw into oceans can hurt the aquatic life in them. Some animals can mistake plastic for food and die, while others suffer some physical consequences like this turtle which obviously got tangled into this plastic a long time ago.
Tire Garbage in the Sea
This is not just some shocking image of pollution where there are thousands of tires on the bottom an ocean. This is how we humans dump our radioactive waste material just off the coastal areas. It is far from our eyes but that doesn’t mean that it is harmless.
